Lagos has destroyed more than 2,000 motorbikes by crushing them

Authorities in Lagos have begun enforcing a law on the destruction of motorcycles, with more than 2,000 seized this week.

It is part of the ongoing crackdown on anti-smoking in the state capital.

The law was introduced last month and went into effect this week in a bid to increase state security.

This is not the first time the government has imposed such a ban.

In January 2020, the government banned motorcycle riding in 15 other local government areas of the state.

Some are skeptical about the legitimacy of the law, considering its benefits and the congestion in the city.
