Determined to provide women with the needed opportunity to attain their full potentials, Kaduna State Government has reiterated commitment to promoting quality education and empowerment initiatives for every Girl-Child to be self-reliant.
The Commissioner of Education, Hajiya Halima Lawal stated this when she received the National Project Coordinating Unit of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) on a three-day implementation support visit to the state.
The schools visited are Government Girls Secondary School Independence Way Kaduna, Government Girls Secondary School Dona, Government Girls Secondary School Kawo, Government Girls Secondary School Rigasa and Queen Amina College, Kaduna.
Receiving the delegation, the Commissioner of education, Hajiya Halima Lawal expressed appreciation for selecting Kaduna as one of the benefiting states stressing that the initiative is in line with the state government's educational transformation agenda.
The commissioner noted that Kaduna State Government remains resolute to supporting girl child education and empowerment urging all relevant stakeholders to sustain support.
“of course, Kaduna state government is doing very well. Not everybody will recognize that. Not everybody will accept that. But with AGILE, the schools that were listed in this project, we can see the difference” she noted.
On her part, the National Deputy Project Coordinator of AGILE, Mrs Abuka Ajanigo expressed satisfaction with the level of commitment and the implementation of the projects in the schools visited.
The team leader further acknowledged that Kaduna is done very well in all aspects of the projects urging the state project implementation unit to maintain the tempo towards achieving the desired result.
She added that “We came with the intention of visiting just two schools. But considering the level of implementation and the work we have seen we decided that we should go for more, because we want to really take back a good report to the headquarters and we are very happy with what we have seen and it is very encouraging”.
In a remark, the Deputy Project Coordinator, Kaduna AGILE, Abdulhalim Bello Ladan expressed delight with the accolade that Kaduna State is one of the leading states in the implementation of the AGILE projects across the federation.
Abdulhalim Bello Ladan added that “We will review the report they produce and review their submission, we will go back to the drawing table, areas that we have done well we will improve upon them and areas we have challenges”.
The main objective of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) is to improve secondary education opportunities among girls in targeted areas in the participating states, Kaduna inclusive.
