NNL: Deputy Governor Peps Up Bayelsa United FC As Team Prepares for Last Game

Players and officials of Bayelsa United have once again been charged to go all out for victory as they intensify preparations to square up against Cynosure Football Club of Abakaliki in their last match in the second division of the Nigerian National League.

Giving the charge at a meeting with the team in Yenagoa, on Monday, the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, said only an outright victory was good enough for the promotion-hungry Bayelsa United side.

Senator Ewhrudjakpo, who gave the team a pat on the back for making Bayelsans proud in their recent home and away games, assured them of the state government's full support as they file out this Saturday against their opponents at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa.

He remarked that everything needed by Bayelsa United to win the game, in terms of logistics for preparation and motivation would be provided for the team to come out victorious.

The Deputy Governor, however, advised the homeside not to undermine the visiting team but rather fight like wounded lions from the beginning to end of the match to enable them grab the maximum three points from the game.

His words, "I want to congratulate you because we are going for a win. I am congratulating you for doing what we expected you to do in your away match at Nnewi. As far as we are concerned, you are gaining promotion.

"I felt today we should come again and talk to you; encourage you because you did well in your last home game against Warri Wolves. It shows that God is on our side.

"Don't be afraid of your opponents; go all out and aim for victory to grab the maximum three points at stake."

In his remarks, Chairman of Bayelsa United FC, Mr. Ebiki Timitimi, expressed optimism for victory on Saturday, saying the team was enjoying a groundswell of home support from both government and soccer fans within and outside the state.

He said the team has everything to play for in the crucial home game, noting that a convincing win over Cynosure FC of Abakaliki is the best way to reciprocate the support they have received throughout the entire 2021/2022 league season.
