The decision to disqualify two Nigerian Para Powerlifter have appealed to the IPC.



The two Nigerian Para Powerlifting athletes, Latifat Tijani and Onyinyechi Gift Mark have been disqualified from competing at the ongoing Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games

The two female powerlifter were disqualified for coming late for kits assessment.

According to statement by the Nigerian Ministry of Sports, “Team Nigeria powerlifters did not arrive late for their event at the Commonwealth Games. 

Based on speculation in the social media, there was also no query about the kits as they were approved at the technical meeting held on Monday, August 1, 2022. .

The decision to disqualify Latifat Tijani and Mark Onyinye Gift has been appealed by Nigeria to the International Paralympic Committee(IPC).

Meanwhile, The duo of Thomas KURE and Innocent NNAMDI will be competing for medals in today's Para-Powerlifting Men's Lightweight - Final
