Matches across several venues for the Northwest Zonal Elimination for the team sports have commenced in earnest.
There were mixed reactions to some of the results coming in, for the host state teams from several quarters.
A source close to the Team Kaduna disclosed that the “Kaduna State contingent is in disarray, low spirit and total lack of motivation”
The source said, “you can see even late this evening the players are struggling to find something to eat, how could they be able to play well and even those who have played all lost.
“The problem is the ministry of finance which has failed to give cash backing to the several payment approvals meant for sports development, how can sports develop without finance”.
The zonal elimination is featuring basketball, baseball, Beach volleyball, football, handball, hockey, softball, and volleyball.
It would hold simultaneously across two venues at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium (ABS) and Murtala Mohammed Square (MMS), from October 3 to 7, 2022.
