Women encourages to join active Politics

The Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe has said women should be encouraged to join active politics and be mentored in the process.

The deputy governor who said this when she received a delegation from the ‘Sabuwa Queens’, a political platform created to woo new women into active politics, said a lot of women are indeterminant about political participation, there is, therefore, the need to create such a platform to encourage them to be active players, adding that women need not wait for power to be given to them, they should rather rise up and take it because they have the numbers and what it takes.

The State Coordinator, Professor Maryam Abdu said the group was formed at the instance of the Her Excellency, Dr Hadiza Balarabe to encourage women who have never been in active politics to be actively involved,  and to mobilize women to vote in the 2023 general general elections.

She commended Governor Nasir El-Rufai for promoting women inclusion in governance in Kaduna State and urge the deputy governor to help provide ‘a mentoring direction and support for women in politics’.

Professor Abdu said "Sabuwa Queens" will serve as a platform for the continued mobilization of women into active politics and mentoring, to be provided by the deputy governor, whom she said has done well as a female politician and has continued to serve as an inspiration to women aspiring to join politics.
