Enhancing Accountability: KDSG Launches CoST, a Global Infrastructure Initiative

Kaduna State Government launched CoST, a global Infrastructure Initiative aimed at promoting greater transparency and accountability in governance with focus on infrastructure projects.

On behalf of Governor Uba Sani, Deputy Governor Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe launched the program today at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, witnessed by stakeholders drawn from the Private Sector, Civil Society Organizations, Contractors working in the state and government officials.

The Deputy Governor described CoST as one of the leading global initiatives improving transparency and accountability in public infrastructure, working with government, the private sector, and civil society organizations to promote the disclosure, validation and interpretation of data from infrastructure projects.

She disclosed that Kaduna State Government is the first Sub-national in Nigeria to join the initiative , which she said aligns with agenda 7 of Senator Uba Sani’s administration’s SUSTAIN manifesto, Nurturing Citizens Engagement.

She explained that the administration’s interest in transparency and accountability is deliberate:”we are servants of the people and must at all times be accountable to them”.

“CoST, which focuses on infrastructure transparency, is a most welcome initiative. We will not rest on our oars until we make Kaduna the model of Open Government in Nigeria and beyond”, Dr Balarabe added.
