The campuses of Kaduna State University came alive this Friday with students shouting and whistling over the restoration of electricity power supply.

KSMC Correspondent who visited the University to monitor the situation reports that excitement could be seen all over among both the students and academic and non-academic staff of the University.

The Kaduna State University community has every course to jubilate as the power supply was restored after being without light for about six weeks.

This situation not only affected the academic activities in the University and administrative operations but even other smallholder businesses have seriously suffered.

Thanks to the intervention of Governor Uba Sani, normal academic life has resumed, and businesses have picked up within the ivory tower.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa who said the problem emanated from the non-settlement of electricity bills for about two years pointed out that the university has learned a lesson.

"It has a dual-edge phenomenon positive and negative, in Negatively has affected a lot of power services we were not able to do what we were supposed to do in terms of academic and research activities, but in a positive way, it has awakened us to the fact that there is the need for us to go into the drawing board and refocused our research efforts in order to come up with the sustainable energy solutions".

Also, the Deputy Dean of Students Affairs of the Kaduna State University, Professor Muhammad Kabir Dauda who described the development as heart-warming, said the black-out had affected the student’s performance and staff service delivery in no small way.

“Actually for both the staff and students of the university we so much need the light because we are facing examinations”
