Nigeria's Minister of Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed has called on Facebook and other social networking sites to stop allowing members of the IPOB to use the site to seek sedition or incite ethnic violence.
The minister made the announcement in Abuja on Tuesday after a meeting with Facebook representatives.
Lai Mohammed stated that since the federal government has declared IPOB terrorists, Facebook has no right to allow IPOB members to express their views.
The minister said that although Facebook had long been the subject of complaints about the activities of IPOB members, the company had done nothing to stop them.
He said the Nigerian government would now continue to monitor Facebook and other social networking sites in the coming days to ensure they comply.
