Commonwealth Games: I’m Not Overwhelmed By My Records - Amusan

After winning Nigeria’s 10th gold medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Games on Sunday, Tobi Amusan says she’s not overwhelmed by her records.

She emphatically defended her Women’s 100m Hurdles title with a Commonwealth Games record time of 12.30secs.

After the race, Amusan could not hide her delight as she gasped for air in excitement after setting a third record this year.

Amusan was asked how she felt about her new feat, World, African and Commonwealth Games records in 100m women’s hurdles said, “not overwhelming for me, As am still trying to wrap my head around as, It’s been an amazing season for me, as am thankful to my support system; family, coach and everyone; left for me, I wouldn’t be here if not for them.

"My motivation; the support has been solid as am just thankful to my coach, at the beginning of the season we talk about the strategy and how we are going to approach things and it has worked out well for us."

Amusan’s feat is coming exactly two week after she stunned the world by running a World Record in the 100m Hurdles in Eugene

It could be recalled that Amusan set a World Record of 12.12 seconds and won gold at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon, United States.

The winning makes her the first and only Nigerian to be crowned African, Commonwealth and World Champion in the same year.
