Journalists trained on professional reportage of security matters


Participants at the just concluded maiden edition of workshop on media reportage on insecurity organized by Nigerian Union of Journalists, kaduna state Chapter expressed satisfaction with the skills acquired during the training.

The participants were drawn from various broadcast and print media organizations in kaduna including kaduna state media corporation KSMC have promised to use the skills acquired during the training in the course of reporting insecurity related issues.

Some of the participants who spoke to newsmen after the event applauded the guest lecturer Retired Colonel Ahmed Zubair a former KASTELEA boss, for brainstorming and excellent analysis on the subject matter.

They explained that if the skills acquired during the training by participants in their various organizations, the society will be better informed on the current security challenges bedeviling the country.

They commended the organizers of the workshop describing it as apt considering the security challenges confronting the country.

In his presentation the guest speaker Retired Colonel Ahmed Zubairu who discussed Reporting security issues from the Perspective of Military Challenges and Lessons said there is a need for a robust and better understanding between the media and the military in Nigeria.

 Retired Colonel Ahmed Zubairu said media needs to improve in the delicate balancing between its objective and professional reporting of news and events with social responsibility.
