Kaduna State Government has called for collective effort to end the prevalence of HIV/ Aids and violence against women and children in the state.
The State Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe made the call while addressing government officials and various support groups shortly after a walk to mark the end of sixteen days of activism against gender base violence as well as commemorating the world aids day.
The Kaduna State Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe and the wife of the state governor, Hajiya Hafsat Uba Sani led the walk from NEPA Roundabout to government house to commemorate the two important events.
Addressing the participants of the walk, the Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe said the fight against the spread of HIV/ Aids and violence against women and children needs a collaborative approach from all stakeholders as government alone cannot do it.
The Deputy Governor urged the participants to take the massages of the fight against these menace to their communities to achieved the desired result.
In a remark, the wife of the state governor Hajiya Hafsat Uba Sani said government will no longer tolerate violence against women and children in the state.
In an interview, the commissioner of Human Services and Social Development Hajiya Rabi Salisu and the Executive Secretary, Kaduna state Aids Control Agency, Dr. Neyu Iliyasu, said the state government is doing its best to reduce the level of gender violence and the HIV/ Aids.
Also speaking, in an interview, the Coordinator of Alumma Support Group, A’isha Usman, appealed to the people in the state to avoid stigmatization to the people living with HIV to enable the government bring to an end the spread of the disease in the state.
According to a statistic, the HIV prevalence in the Kaduna state is one point one percent, equivalent to one hundred and fifteen thousand people infected with the virus and out of which only sixty-three thousand are receiving treatment.Kaduna State Government has called for collective effort to end the prevalence of HIV/ Aids and violence against women and children in the state.
