Kwara Governor Announces Plans for Offa Stadium Reconstruction

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State embarked on an official visit to the Olofa Stadium in Offa on Wednesday, unveiling plans for the facility's reconstruction.

The Governor stated that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development would be directed to re-appraise the stadium and provide recommendations for its revitalization.

Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, announced the Governor's visit and outlined the ambitious agenda for the reconstruction of Offa Stadium, marking a significant step towards promoting sports development in Kwara State.

Speaking to reporters during the inspection, Governor AbdulRazaq emphasized the need for a comprehensive upgrade of the stadium, considering its 40-year-old design.

He highlighted that similar attention would be given to the Lafiagi Stadium in ongoing efforts to enhance sporting infrastructure across the state.

The Governor acknowledged that budgetary constraints and emerging socioeconomic challenges had previously impeded renovation efforts.

However, he expressed a renewed commitment to transforming the Olofa Stadium into a modern sports facility.

"The plan is for this stadium to also host state and national sporting events, stimulating socioeconomic growth," Governor AbdulRazaq explained.

Accompanied by former Commissioner for Water Resources Hon. Femi Agbaje, the Governor conducted a thorough inspection of the stadium, assessing its current state.

During this visit, AbdulRazaq revealed intentions to commission a new design for the stadium, initiating the consultancy process promptly.
