The Lagos government has banned Okada all over the state

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has banned the practice of acaba or okada at all in the local government areas of the state.

The governor on Wednesday announced the ban in six local government areas and nine other emerging local government areas of the state.

The affected sub-counties are: Eti-Osa, Ikeja, Surulere, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, Apapa. Similarly, the ban applies to all sub-counties under their jurisdiction.

The governor issued the directive on Wednesday during a meeting with the state commissioner of police and other regional police officers.

He added that as soon as June 1, the security forces will start enforcing the law on motorcyclists.

The move follows the killing of a musician as a result of an altercation over 100 naira in an altercation between him and some militants, according to reports.

The state government has restricted the activities of motorcyclists as of 2020.
